 Why aren't they growing?

High. I put a fully colonized cake into a cut off cranberry juice bottle(sterilized) and I put 2 moist paper towels on the bottom I coverred this with ceran(spellin?) wrap and open it and air it out twice a day. It's been in here 4 days now and no sign of mushroom growth. It is kept in a dark place. What the hell???

try damp perlite at the bottom, instead of paper towels ... also, the temperature may not be right ?

How wet should the perlite be, how much of it, and what kind of water to use?(purified/tap)

if you think your tap water is relatively clean, you can use it...
put some perlite in a strainer/colander, then put it under a faucet and thoroughly soak the perlite, then kinda shake the strainer and let the water run out ... then use that damp perlite in your bottle

if you want mushrooms to fruit they need some indirect light........ so if you have it in a completely dark place don't expect anything to happen........ hope this helps.....
keep humidity up fan a couple times a day keep it around 70-80 degrees if possible and you should get mushrooms......

Ok I just put 1 and 1/2 inch layer of wet perlite under the cake...but the cake has a side where it is fuzzy on the surface. It isn't grey...but can this still be cobweb mold?

OOOhhh....I never knew they're supposed to get some light. So only a couple hours? Like 2 and that's it?...or is it ok to leave them just sitting on my desk in my room as long as the sun doesn't shine on it directly?

So your saying fuzz is good? YES! Man I thought I was fucked...if I actually get shrooms from this cake I will be so fuckin happy. I mean it just seems cray that I will finally grow something that actually works. And I DIDN'T HAVE TO OVERPAY FOR IT!!! By the way these were Ecuadors...do you think they will be potent? I got them from sporeworks.com. And another question taht you can answer if your bored. I know all about the dosage thing, and it will be my frist time...but how much should I take to get about a level 3 trip..or more like the highest level that if goes wrong and becomes a bad trip will not be a terrible horrifying bad trip? (if you can't understand just disregard)

i'd say more than 3 grams of dried mushrooms and you might have lots of anxiety in your trip -- i've never had a horrifying bad trip on shrooms (but YES on lsd), but i would think around 5 grams is when you can really get sucked into your own worries, cause 5+ grams is considered an epic dose.
also, optimum lighting for fruiting is only enough light so that you are able to see your cakes .. bright light is not so good

mine seem pretty da,mn potent but i have no comparison with others.....
if you've never taken mushrooms before you might want to start out with a gram for safety......

But the shrooms will be fresh. So one gram of fresh shrooms is like nothing...do I just multiply the number of grams by 10 for fresh shrooms? And my room always has a blue hue to it because my curtain is blue. So bright light never gets in...but this is brighter than just enough to see the cake. Will this still be ok?
