Pan Cyan mycellium or cobweb mold?
    #835285 - 08/22/02 05:56 AM (21 years, 7 months ago)

I?m posting this in advanced because I would like some experienced answers as to whether or not this is normal Pan.cyan mycellium or if I?m infested with the dreaded cobweb mold. If I were growing cubies,I?ld throw this out..But I read where Pan. mycellium can look different.
I used a fully colonised BRF cake, covered it with pasteurised straw and compost.I did?nt break up the cake because I did?nt want to risk contamination. After the straw was colonised (5 days) I put a thin layer of boiled and drained coco coir and oyster shell on top, placed a clear plastic bag on top for light, fan 3 times a day. Any help would be great. I?m not being impatient, just don?t wanna wait around like a fool for something thats not gonna happen!

Can't really tell from the fuzzy picture. Looks like it could be cobweb mold. But maybe not, I think I see a couple of hyphal knots.

How long did it take to grow?? Usually cobweld mold grows really fast.

Since i was looking at pan cyan mycelia colonising a coco coir casing about five minutes ago I can tell you that I am 99% sure that you have pan cyan mycelia at its best.
In order to fruit them, you may need to give them a scratch - mine would not fruit until i scratched then fruited like mad two days later...

You might want to up the fanning a bit. Pans like less humidity than cubes and more fresh air. Just my .02.
