C.M. Mann said: You must combine the conscious ego with the subconscious mind to understand reality as it was intended.
Id say totally get rid of the conscious ego, ego is really unconscious, deluded by the mind. To beocme ego-less you have to become mindless, people just try to caress the intellect and make it sound pretty & nice to be ego-less, the truth being that if you want to be ego-less you have to become mindless. Throw it completely away, then you see reality. Every single thought is going further away from truth, each thought is an outward seeking complex, turning inward is where truth is.
The ego is a powerful tool of the mind. It is as much a part of you as your arm or leg. If you claim to eliminate, or diminish your ego, that is simply choosing to not use a function of your brain. Ego is neither good nor bad, it has the power to create and the power to destroy. Ego is simply your way of perceiving the world and relating it to your own self. I agree with Chronic that the ego is a completely outward thinking process. You can't relate to the outer world without an ego.
By looking inward you learn what your spirit and mind are truly made up of, and it is very good to take that journey. Once you understand yourself inside, you can began to understand what the outer world really means. But we are still limited by our perceptions. I don't think i will ever have the ability to fully understand the outside world.

so do you think one could harness this power to, create and destroy? and perhaps choose only to create?

Yes, but human beings are conflicted. One must always battle against urges that would destroy them. If you think constructively your mind will create. If you think hurtful thoughts (to yourself or to others), your mind will destroy. Hurtful thoughts can include jealousy, envy, hate, fear, or demoralizing thoughts about yourself and others.

Potentially...but only with great care and devotion. Most people simply don't care enough to devote so much energy to always having proper thought. We like to indulge ourselves and misbehave. A lot of people have the "fuck it, enjoy life attitude", which by itself is fine...but people use it as an excuse to do harmful things to themselves and others.
Through your ego you can creatively construct your own world, but only if you understand what your mind and heart are seeking, and you realize what is righteous for you and what is evil.

Thank You for your response. Think of the mind as just one source of energy. It controls the physical and the metaphysical. Accessing the subconscious gives you infinitly more control over all functions. The ego is at its worst when it is allowed to define itself in hedonistic terms. Described in these terms, the ego is a major impedement to creativity and free thought. The conscious ego is powerfull,it has forced the mind to separate into two areas. The conscious mind is for the pleasure of the ego, pushing all else into the deep recesses of the subconscious mind. The mind is out of balance untill these two areas are combined. Untill you have accessed the subconscious mind, all of your thoughts are controled by your ego. The mind is much more than anyone wants to admit, and i have experienced some of it.

Cosmik Debris by Frank Zappa
The mystery man came over And he said "I'm outta sight!" He said for a nominal service charge I could reach nirvana tonight If I was ready, willing and able To pay him his regular fee He would drop all the rest of His pressing affairs and devote His attention to me
But I said "Look here brother who you jiving with that cosmik debris? Now who you jiving with that cosmik debris? Look here brother, don't waste your time on me"
The mystery man got nervous And he fidget around a bit He reached in the pocket of his mystery robe And he whipped out a shaving kit Now I thought it was a razor And a can of foaming goo But he told me right then when the top popped open There was nothin' his box won't do With the oil of Aphrodite, and the dust of the Grand Wazoo He said "You might not believe this, little fella But it'll cure your asthma too"
And I said "Look here brother Who you jiving with that cosmik debris? Now what kind of a guru are you, anyway? Look here brother, don't waste your time on me" *(Don't waste your time)*
"I've got troubles of my own", I said "And you can't help me out So, take your meditations and your preparations And ram it up your snout!" "But I got the crystal ball", he said And held it to the light So I snatched it, all away from him And I showed him how to do it right
I wrapped a newspaper 'round my head So I looked like I was deep I said some mumbo-jumbo, then I told him he was going to sleep I robbed his rings and pocketwatch And everything else I found I had that sucker hypnotized He couldn't even make a sound I proceeded to tell him his future, then As long as he was hanging around I said "The price of meat has just gone up And your old lady has just gone down!"
And I said "Look here brother-who you Jiving with that cosmik debris? Now is that a real poncho or is that a Sears poncho? Don't you know, you could make more money as a butcher? So, don't waste your time on me" Don't waste it, don't waste your time on me *(Shante)*

What are your thoughts of the self-healing potential of accessing the subconscious mind, C.M.Mann? Can it extend life? Everything is ultimately psychic, and it's a matter of harnessing the right areas of the mind to generate desired effects, correct?

Wherever the hero may wander, whatever he may do, he is ever in the presence of his own essence — for he has the perfected eye to see. There is no separateness.
