Oudoor patches surviving winter to fruit again?
    #833456 - 08/21/02 01:03 PM (21 years, 7 months ago)

Hey all,

Do you think an outdoor patch, in the ground or in a pot could survive winter and fruit again? The mycelium would just completely stop growing and go dormant from the cold right? Or would it die from the freezing temperatures?

Of course i would pour shit/straw water on it to re-nutrient(not sure if thats a word, or spelt right) the patch.

What do you think?

I'd guess that it depends on winter where you're at and the strain being grown

I think it also depends on how deep the network goes.

In reply to:

A "wise" person once said "Look outside, see the climate and deside!" maybe you should follow your own device. Or not get down on people so quickly.

Uhhh there is a big difference between summer conditions and winter conditions. I was asking if winter would kill the mycelium, you asked what strains grow outside....

Anyone else?

depend what mushroom your talking about - cubies wont, but woodlovers will easily survive dormant on wood fragments below the surface of your garden
