PE with a hitchiker. Transfer was done in a SAB. What are the odds it'd be another fungus!

I have a question. I've seen this several times on different agar plates. The mycelium colonizes fine, but then a few days later these brown spots appear in the mycelium, almost like mold spores or something, but it only happens in certain spots and it's always ON the mycelium. Not underneath so I don't think it's bacteria. Any of u guys had this problem before? I can't figure it out.

Already dropped some of this plate in grain, none of that was there before I did the transfer. And it only shows up on certain plates. This is pan bisporus, hence the whispyness.

I had some Pan tropicalis that did something similar but not to that degree and never seen it on cube myc. Aside from the brown, that myc doesn’t look great unless it’s just the picture. Is this happening on all your cultures or just one? Might start again from spore.

Only certain plates. I had 4 others that were perfect looking that I spawned and it colonized fine and no brown spots.
And it's just the pic cuz my flash wouldn't work. When I made the transfer it looked good with no brown spots at all. Only 3 dishes did this out of 12.
The only thing I could think of was food coloring? It was red agar and the brown didn't show up till the color of the agar disappeared...
I'll snap some better pics tomorrow and of the other dishes and report back

Weird. Maybe skip the food dye on your next set of plates to see if it still shows up. If it’s fruiting without issue I wouldn’t sweat it.

Well ive never successfully fruited any pans. This is my first run. Just cased it 2 days ago and it's already coming thru the casing.
Here's the jar
And the tray 2 days before cased and after casing.

Sorry. Now I'm off topic. Lol I will skip the dye next time.

Seems fine to me mate!
Weird "sectioning" of P. ostreatus on agar. Never saw anything like this It remembered me the Armillaria rhizomorphs running under agar.

I suspect a bacterial contamination has caused that growth.

I can't see any wet spot or greasy liquid in the plate, but it was a plate that I let on its own and forgot about it because shown slow growth since the beginning, so it could have been a transfered wedge infected by bacteria. Could it be viral disease too?
