OMG!!! Look what Comcast did for me!!!!

They were just out last week and installed a brand new main line to our street and new drop line to my house. We had always had some fuzziness on the lower channels and this fixed it finally. I had thought that it would also fix my intermittent connection issues. I'll lose connectivity for 45-90 seconds at a time, not a huge deal until I started playing on Xbox Live.
Since the new line didn't fix it, I contacted them and suggested trying a new modem. I went and picked it up and for the life of me could not get it to work. First time I called them lady had no clue, so I got tired of her and just hung up and tried to fix it myself again. Once I had exhausted everything, I called again.
This time, a new lady did several of the same things (I can't stand the repeated requests to power cycle) but then she said let me check something and all of the sudden I had internet. Immediately I knew something was weird because I have 12 copies of an online trading program running that sounds an alarm when connectivity is lost or restored. Normally you'll hear 12 consecutive rings when this happens. This time though they sounded in near unison. I told her she just fixed it and she sounded surprised and said I found some kind of block on your account that I removed. I thanked her and hung up.
I went to do a speedtest immediately and this is what I get.

I'm only supposed to have a max of 6MB down and 384kB up! How long you think it will be before they discover this and move me back?
One thing I opened up uTorrent and started seeding some old torrent just to see how fast I could get it and was doing well over a 100kB for a few minutes (compared to normal max of 40kB) and then it slowed down. Traffic shaping being engaged? I should probably limit the torrent ups if I don't want to get caught.

they gonna cap u again very soon. comcast is notorious for their connection discrimination practices, especially for the torrent community. good luck, i'd get a new isp if that is an option. cox has been good to me.

you should hit up usenet with speeds like that, it would be ridiculous fast downloads...mine is only 7Mbps, and I have a steady speed around 500KB/s download. With 20Mbps, you could easily download 1MB/s...plus, I dont think they shape packets like with torrents.

It's either because no one else is on your node at the time of the test or you have an enormous amount of half-open TCP/IP connections opened up. I run 2,000+ half-open TCP/IP connections and these are my results as of this morning:

Now obviously this fluctuates quite frequently, so don't expect those numbers everyday. Fun though huh?
