Inkjet Solar cells
    #8316787 - 04/22/08 10:42 PM (16 years, 30 days ago)

http://www.konarka.com/

This company plans on making flexible plastic solar cells commercially available way cheaper than conventional ones. They are able to be easily mass produced cheaply and offer improved low-light absorption and low angle absorption. I will be buying a lot of this stuff if they sell it as cheaply as they claim. ($0.10/Watt said the TV)

i think there has been similar things. but sounds neat. what does 10cents a watt even mean?? i wonder how efficient those bad boys are....camo solar panel tent is pretty sweet !!

It means more than 1,000 times (100,000%) the cost of electricity from the outlet in my area if they're talking about watt hours.

edit:
or $10 to run a 100 watt lightbulb for an hour, again presuming kwh

It means that a cell that produces 1 watt would cost 10 cents to manufacture (or purchase). However, the efficiency is also important. Does it take 1 cm^2 to produce one watt or 1 m^2?

Organic solar cells have pretty low efficiencies at the moment, even ones in university research labs, at least as far as Im aware though I dont stay up on solar cells

This statement would be in error considering that you would not be buying new panels every hour.
