a cute little mouse in my house
    #8298095 - 04/17/08 08:31 PM (16 years, 2 days ago)

So I walked downstairs into the basement, my room, and see one of the kitties staring intently at one of my blankets on the ground. Then he put his paw under the blanket, so I lifted it up and there's this wee little guy scared to death, shaking, staring at us both.

This kitty doesn't seem to like to kill but his sister brings a mouse or 3 in every day, bites their heads off and leaves the rest.

I took the kitty out of my room, because he just wasn't treating the little guy very nice (well who knows, maybe they're close friends haha). Went back down there to find the mouse and it was really scared of me, shaking. I tried petting it and it tried biting me with it's tiny little mouth. So I went and grabbed a few berries and nuts, and offered them to the little dude.

He took the cranberry and started munchin on it, still a bit weary of me. He is sooooo cute though, I want to keep him, but I don't want to imprison him in an aquarium, and not be able to spend every living moment with him, to keep him happy. If I let him be, maybe he'll go back to his mouse wife and mouse kids and be happy, maybe give them some food too hahaha.

But maybe if I let him be the cat will bite it's head off...

I'm not sure what to do, but it is reeeeaaal cute! Wish I could take pictures. It's not the type of mouse I'm used to seeing...

lol

Yeah this cat is a wimp. His sister though is a furious hunter, all day long.

Back when i used to live with my dad i noticed a mouse peeking out of my closet. I didn't really do anything but watch him try to run out for half an hour. Every time he attempted to i would just go "eh!" at him and he'd go back in.

i left my bedroom door open that night and laid cheese on the carpet so he could venture out into the rest of the house. i wonder what came of that little fucker

He's burrowed in my blanket right now, probably trying to get some shut eye, he ate a little bit of food and I just gave him a capful of water. I hope he's not hurt. If he sticks around much longer, I'm just gonna keep him and commit to taking real good care of him. That option makes me feel a bit uneasy though, I don't want to confine him too much, I don't know what he would want.

I don't think I will keep him, I just don't feel right in doing so. He's scared of me, and I don't want him to be. I don't think he'd ever come around to not being scared. I'll do my best to let him live in my room, and feed him.

This is so unorthodox of people, but I feel for the little guy. He's less than 2 inches long, about an inch circumference and his ears and eyes are soooo tiny! He looks like he's havin a bad hair day lol :tongue2:

Yeah true. Well maybe over time the mouse will adjust to you. I'd imagine it being hard to achieve though, seeing that they're usually afraid of people to begin with.

People suck when it comes to killing animals as small as mice just for fun. Good luck on taking care of it
