How long for a brick of coir to colonize?????
    #8293548 - 04/16/08 08:45 PM (15 years, 10 months ago)

Hey everyone, Ive had a brick of coir colinizing in a monotub for about 2 1/2 weeks at about 70 degrees.  It isnt completeley colinzed yet, but the myc is starting to look a lot whiter and fluffier.  Im guess its gonna atleast need another week or so to fully colonize.

Is this normal?  I used 3 qts of spawn.  Thanks

10 days is the factor i go by no matter what the spawn rate, but i rarely spawn below a 1:2 rate with coir.

Click the link in my sig, and scroll to the bottom of the first post. The growth is after 10 days. I used 5 quarts of spawn, and "around" a brick and a half of expanded coir.

The tub that I am using is a 58 quart.

1st grow complete, boy what a ride!

2nd grow will be the same as the first, only better!

^^ for some reason my myc has never looked as white as yours. It starts out kinda greyish and now it is starting to turn bright white finally.

mine do it in 10 days or so... but even when they are colonized, they dont look colonized all the way... I broke one apart, and it had alot of myc running through it, but it wasnt caked on either... but 3 full flushes (dunking, of course) with it only being put in the FC ~10 days after spawning tells me that its all good.. if you are tripping, wait 2 weeks.. then case, etc etc etc...
