Question on outdoor casing layers

OK, so I've been pasteurizing for the last 5 hours... got about 5 more hours to go.
So I'm wondering if I need to pasteurize the casing layer... it's gonna be on top, exposed to the weather...
would it be so bad to mix some 50/50, put it on dry, and add some water?

why have you been pasteurizing for 5 hours? with 5 more to go? and what would you need to pasteurize for 10 hours? that 's way too long.........
yes, you can pasteurize the casing layer if you want to, not always necessary, but good to do.
this is going outdoors? you need to be more specific as to what you are doing.
50/50 what? no, don't put it on dry, then wet, moisturize it first, then apply the casing layer.

I couldn't get the poo out of the horse, so I'm pasteurizing the horse. I figure extended times are needed.
j/k, I'm doing more than one batch.
Other than it taking less cook time, putting a dry casing layer over a large surface area, would be much more efficient.
I'm still undecided. It will only take a couple hours longer to pasteurize the casing... dunno what I'll do.
So, what say you experienced outdoor growers?

Maybe he is doing many batches of substrate.
And yes, mix up your casing to field capacity and then definitely pasteurize it.

ok, cool. Have you had problems with unpasteurized, outdoor casings?
