using grow bags

So I am a bit clueless here as far as using a grow bag. I bought a rye grow bag from mycopath.

After I inoculate them, do they need to be kept in the dark around 86degrees until the whole thing is colonized? At that point what would I do with the bag, open it and place into a large tupperware container of sorts? What kind of substrate should I put in the bottom of it, some form of compost/horse manure? I mean would the mushrooms spread from the rye bag to the compost? Or do I use something mushrooms wont grow on to line the bottom of the container and retain moisture?

Thankyou for any help, I believe I am getting two separate things mixed up here.

~The internal temp. of the bag will be about 4-6degrees above room temperature.  Colonize in a room (not in the dark) at 70+ degrees.  Having an internal temp. above 80degrees is just increasing your risk of contam.  Exposing colonizing jars/ bags to light is actually good for them.  Once it is fully colonized....well there is lots of options.  Read some teks and figure out what is best for you. :sun: ~Pixie~

Good to know about the internal temp being higher, thanks.

I guess I just need to know if this sounds logical:
Placing a layer of vermiculite covered in a layer of manure/straw mix in an appropriate container(with small holes in the bottom to prevent over saturation,and a few at surface level to assist in release of gas), then spreading large chunks of the colonized rye over the top of all that.

Anything seem too far off in doing that?

~Sorry....Yes your ideas are off. Like gas exchange vs. air exchange. You don't want to just lay spawn on top of your substrate (you want to layer it or mix it in). Maybe you know more than it sounds like but you need to reread some teks top to bottom. PM me if you want help searching some teks. ~Pixie~
