ok maybe now i think is a polypore, or maybe trametes sp, i have to see the under side sorry, to be sure.
interesting about the maggie , will be cool if you can id the mushrroms by conserving the log or lokking for mushroms in the log , and wait until it fruit . that sound like good stuff. people always come across excellent thing and they dont realise until latter .
all my best vibrations.

Sorry eddie i cant tell you where because i value my patches and would be devistated if i seen someone else had torn em up My patches are the result of many weeks endless search. About the rain, i dont know if it had rained alot before i found those because i dont go there too often. I'd say it did because to start growth they need rain aswell as a bit of frost. I suggest getting out there after the weekend and getting ya hands dirty, theres a bit of rain and frost today and 2moz. Its so much more satisfying when you find you own patch. Just remember you dont have to leave melbourne to find em, its always freezing in melb and the nights here have high humidity, even more so that most outer country locations. That is until it hits winter ofcourse. Happy hunting

Thats fair enough, i didnt mean to offend or anything. The reason why i asked is because i have looked recently but only found inactive ones around the place. I was wondering if you were in a suburb further out or something, thats all.
I do have a few patches that i check out in my local, but havent found any yet. I will head your advice and give some new areas a good look around (2 days off work hoorah!) and ill post pics of any findings here.
Thanks for the reply.

Found a patch of 20ish Aminatas, most pretty young, absolutely nothing else active or otherwise. Pic of kangaroo(?) skull i found so anyone local might know where i've been. Looking foward to the coming weeks...

Had a quick prowl around today, seen a few inactive species around which are promising signs. Checked out my usual spot and saw nothing, hope to see some by the end of this coming week. Anyone picking around Belgrave area? I've heard some good things, I might trek up there this week.

My favorite and most reliable patch was sprayed a couple of years back, and I have not had a chance to check it out since due to moving to a distant suburb and work commitiments. I am planning a hunt this week, and would appreciate any advice as to whether actives that may grow in my old patch would be safe (in relative terms) to consume?
It could be time to go through the Melways and look for new possible locations, as I am doubtful they will even grow there anymore due to the bracken that sheltered the actives also being killed when the council sprayed.

Hey i'm new here and interested in shrooms, never done them before but plan to. Got a spot i could scope out later on today mabye, i'll have my phone with me so i'll take some pics of whatever i see. I'm in the eastern suburbs and there's been some good rain. dunno if i'll find anything though.
I'll be looking for "Psilocybe subaeruginosa" won't I? got a fair idea on what they look like, but i don't think ill take any if i find them straight away, might just take some pics to see if they are them and post em here.
Looking foward to being a part of this site and mushroom hunting

Make sure you keep your eye out for P.Subcubensis as well. Especially around Pine and Eucalypt combinations.
