Yeah, I've been learning how varied Subs' appearances can be. Thin, decomposing mulch is the way to go for sure.
As soon as you have anything to do with either Psilocybin or Psilocin, you are breaking the law. If you had scissors or a bag with you they could probably do you in for intent I guess. I bet most of the time they will let you go though, so long as you are polite and cooperative.

Wicked photo bro. What camera are you using? Decent macro'ing from the looks of it...
Haven't been for a hunt yet, tho looks like this weekend will prove fruitful. Might want to wait for another dump of rain and cold snap for larger hauls though.

Woot! Last year I was living in South Australia (which, by the way is terrible for mushroom hunting compared to Melbourne) and now that I'm back, I got a lot of hunting to catch up on.
I just hope my regular patches haven't already had visitors...
I'd go out and have a look today, but it looks like a big storm is coming through. I heard the western suburbs is getting hail today and it looks like it's gonna come east. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.
edit: Yep. 5 minutes later and it's shittin down hail.

Cheers man. I'm using a Canon EOS 350d with a Sigma 18-50mm macro lens. It's pretty outdated nowadays and it's an entry-level dslr, but it does the trick with macro and portrait, anything much more detailed or with more depth than that and it starts to disappoint.

if you see these you can eat them (with no alcohol) they start off with white gills that turn grey then they drop spores
you can catch the spores for about 8 hours but if your greedy and go for a second print this will happen look below
i thought it was funny cause i said to my self hurry up but i was being greedy lol

I went for a long 6 hour hunt yesterday and found not one active. Very frustrating. Plenty of Stropharia A though. And I got caught in the thunder, hail and lightning storm.
After yesterday's rain I'll have to try again tomorrow morning and see if I have better luck.

I love the amanita muscaria pics. I had a very good time with a.muscaria the other night. It's like an antiseptic for negative emotions. There's little to no nausea if it's cooked for long enough.

I hate those huge walks that leave you empty-handed. Good to get back into nature and feel its vibe again though. Unfortunately the really long hikes will continue until you find where the patches actually are. Everything looks the same to start with...
