I consider myself pretty familiar with football rules

But I'm playing myself some ESPN NFL 2K5 (still the best pro football game ever made) and a clip called against me on a run took yardage off my RB's total. I've never seen this happen in real life or at least never noticed, is that a real rule?

I think it's just a crazy error, because it said I ran for a loss of 41, when it was a gain of fifteen.

Yep, it's for sure a bug. Had it happen to me plenty of times. Once, I ran for a 3 yard gain, but there was holding and in the stat display it said I had a total of -56 yards rushing. Very next play I busted one for 76 yards and a touchdown.
Onterrio Smith is a beast in that game.

First time it's ever happened to me, and I've played a lot of that game. My current RB is the number one overall pick out of Houston I traded for, he's a beast

It truly is the best football game ever made. The graphics still hold up in my opinion.
Plus, it's just fun as hell.
And the obligatory "I'd kick your ass if we ever played" statement must be made.

The original xbox graphics are better than madden on 360. The only drawback is having to tap to sprint, I always get caught though I have a fifteen yard advantage
