Who cares what girls think. Personally I would rather be uncircumcised. Circumcision causes the skin to stretch from the base of the penis making your dick hairy. It also makes the penis less sensitive because lose a lot of nerve endings. It makes for a smaller, less healthy penis. Why would you want that?

All the girls Ive known like both. I didn't think circumcision was that common. I thought it was a religious thing. Although i guess Australia isn't as religious as a lot of other countries. Circumcision damages the nerves in the top of the penis. The church first started circumcision in an attempt to stop masturbation. Its meant to make masturbation painful. I'm not sure if it works because the nerves get deaden from constant exposure, so people can probably do it any way. If you are uncircumcised anything which isn't really soft brushing against the head of the penis is painful. So sexual pleasure is heightened.

:shrug:  I find sex pretty pleasurable, and I'm circumsized.

I think my parents' reasoning wasn't so much religious, and it definitely didn't start with the church, the jews started that one.  I think my parents' concern was that uncircumsized penises are more likely get get infections and things of that nature.  I believe the doctors recommended it to them.

I know the jews started it. I think the church caught hold of it for its anti masturbation potential lol. I saw this on a documentry, maybe it was just his opinion though. Its not meant to take away all sexual pleasure. But im pretty sure it must deaden nerves to some extent. Maybe it's just me. But I see something very BIZARRE about removing a piece of the body, for any reason. That's like saying that the body can't take care of itself, and I just don't buy that. A healthy body will maintain itself; no surgury required.

I don't hold my feelings against the guys who have been circumsized. You all didn't have anything to do with getting your foreskins removed, and I bet if you'd had a say as infants, you would have protested out of sheer affront.

But I do feel it's a really strange and shitty thing for parents to do to their children. It just seems really weird to me.

Of course there is a lot of misinformation out there, so the parents aren't really to blame either.

I'm just saying; I find circumcision to be a very bizarre and unnecessary practice to subject male babies to.

Not nearly as much, though. Think about it, that skin flap creates a warm, dark, possibly moist area that is just perfect growing conditions for all kinds of bacteria and fungi.

I think the skin is there to protect it. Not only the sensitive nerves from being damaged, but also from infection. So the infection debate goes both ways. In my opinion if it wasn't for religion circumcision wouldn't exist. For example in Australian culture circumcision seems to be a lot more rare. Its mainly only the religious people who get it done.

We are covered with billions of microbes all over our body. There is no way to avoid bacteria, and I don't understand the human fixation with attempting to avoid and abolish it. Why don't animals in the wild have issues with their sheaths getting infected with bacteria? My dog doesn't. I used to be around horses a lot when I was younger, and they have an impressive flap that their penis hides in. They never got infections and I've seen a lot of horses fuck around in the field, sometimes quite violently with the mares. They were not always the cleanest animals either.

From my perspective it seems like humans tend to believe they are separate from nature and that their bodies cannot manage themselves, so they attempt to alter their bodies in order to try and define what it means to be 'human,' which in most societies means a mental/physical separation from the natural world. I do believe bodies work just fine as is, as long as one is healthy, and I believe this from observing animals. Humans are another type of animal, in my opinion; it's just our higher brain functions that give us reason to believe otherwise, but I don't personally feel this is so.

These are just thoughts. As I said, I don't care either way. If slippery white silk spurts forth, it's a penis, and works just fine, circumsized or not.

lol humans seem to have one of the strongest scents of all animals if we don't wash. My dog has a bath once every two months or so and he doesn't smell that bad compared to how i would smell if i didn't wash for months.

Just to play devil's advocate on the subject...the body isn't always the best at taking care of itself.  A lot of human cleanliness habits are quite healthy.  Take brushing your teeth, for example.  If you don't brush your teeth, they will probably rot.

I think comfort has a lot to do with bathing habits.  I know if I don't take a shower for awhile my ass starts to itch.  Being clean just feels great, too.  Nothing like being all grubby, nasty, and dirty and then taking a nice steamy hot shower and stepping out all squeaky clean.

Cats clean themselves, in fact...a lot of other animals have grooming habits...

I do agree that we are just another animal, not separate from the others.  That doesn't mean that we can't keep ourselves clean :wink:

I have spent a lot of time around wildlife. Most of the bad smells at zoo's and farms come from there feces and piss rather than the animal itself. Human BO is very potent, most of us wash so we don't get to experience its full power. Think about cats, they hardly have any smell at all compared to us, and they never wash with water or soap, all they do is lick themselves.

Agreed.. Not only is it a fucked up thing to do to someone who has no say, but who knows how the trauma of going through that at such an early and fragile age will effect someone for the rest of their life? I was circumcised when I was 2 and I have vivid memories not only of the experience but of the extreme and persisting pain.

In my Anthropology class today we were talking about this pair of twins. One of theirs' circumcisions got "botched" and they raised that child as a female. Eventually it got a sex change and got married to a woman. Then he killed himself a few years down the road.

Circumcision is pretty uncommon outside the US and the Middle East. In Australia, for example, it's quite rare, probably because of the fact that there are almost no Jews here.

No, it's not common on the West Coast anymore.  My sons' generation has about a 30% circumcision rate.  My generation was about 70-75% on the West Coast, though, and all but one of my partners has been circumcised.  I still think it is weird, and I was shocked the first time I saw a circumcised penis...it looked so unprotected and raw.  :sad:
