Yesterday I was watching the movie "Waking Life", and one of the philosophical rants really caught my attention as a shroomer.

A character in the film was talking about the essence of time, and how there could be dimensions in and out of time. He brings up an example of how dreams can seem to last whole days, weeks and years, while only happening in a matter of nightly hours of sleep. He talks about the possibility of the Cerrebellum (dream-creating part of the brain) to extend and remold the rate of which we perceive time.

Many people on shrooms (including myself) bare witness to time becoming "liquid" where seconds can last as long as hours and hours can pass without notice.

The film also talks about how we may all very well be trapped in a phase of consistent time flow, and how in such cases as the theoretical "afterlife" time itself may not exist.

Trippy, huh?

That movie was very cool. I was more taken by the sequence on lucid dreaming. He thought he was awake but kept waking up. then he talks to the guy about how to tell if you are dreaming and he tells him to turn the lights off. He then tries and finds that he is still sleeping. Dreams within dreams. Excellent movie for tripping.

Aye, that was a cool concept, another cool movie along the lines of time is Donnie Darko..

Probably the best quote from Waking Lives is "Which is the more Universtal Human Trait? Fear of Laziness", I know it's directly from Ishmel, not sure if that's the author talking throughout that part of the movie.

sorry for gettin' so off-topic, but i just wanted to throw in my 2c that Donnie Darko was a fantastic film --> highly recommended to all who enjoy a thought-provoking experience.

I heard that Vanilla Sky was a trippy movie. It didn't seem that trippy to me by the previews, but I guess it could still be. Did anyone here see it?

Yeah the previews didn't do the movie justice. They tried to get the audience interested by showing Cameron Diaz's legs, and a sex scene with Penelope Cruz.

But the movie itself had this amazing philosophical concept behind it. It has the same idea as "Waking Life" but instead it tells a story instead of exposing the audience to random philosphical rants.

Geokillz made me watch it. I now enjoy it.
