I hope this is the right place, but..
I had to restore my computer to its original self. The processing was soooo slow! After this was done it sped up but now after three days my disk space is critically low (5.02 GB out of 65.2). I believe it is page filing like crazy. How do I fix it, stop the page filing? HELP PLEASE!

Everyone will give you the same answer. Delete a good 15-20gb or get a bigger harddrive. 65gb is nothing anymore, you can get a 750gb drive for under 150.
If it's randomly filling up with crap, even page filing I don't think does that. O_o

Re-format? Not a fun idea, but at least it will get you the results you want instead of chaising your tail trying to fix the problem.
I assume you already did the whole defrag, spybot, antivirus, clean house shit.

If you want to change the size of your page file right click my computer>properties>advanced>performance>advanced tab>virtual memory
I would suggest setting it to 1.5 times your physical memory.

Almost...
Reinstall completely, including a full format of the hard drive. If the format of the drive reports any bad sectors, then the drive is probably failing and the problem will return until you replace the drive.

So, you would recommend a 12GB swap/pagefile on my system? Ouch. Part of the reason I run with so much memory is so that I don't have to worry about paging.
> I believe it is page filing like crazy. How do I fix it, stop the page filing?
In general, you add more physical memory to stop the system from paging. In your case, I would verify that the memory in the system is good as a starting point. I've seen bad memory continue to work at half capacity.
If your memory is good, and nothing has changed, and you have started to page a lot, then something is consuming resources with letting them go. Usually caused by spyware though it can happen from bad device drivers, buggy programs, or bugs in the OS. Antivirus programs, under windows, are notorious for consuming a lot of system resources and growing over time. What worked a year ago on your system without problem, after updates and patches, might not work today.

how much ram do you have? If you have 2gb or more, I would completely turn off they swap file/page file, whatever it is called, I always do.
to do this, press the window logo key + pause|break --> advanced tab --> in the performance box click on settings --> click the advanced tab --> in the virtual memory box on the bottom, click the change button --> click the radio button for no page file or set to whatever size you like --> click set --> click ok
your all set
peace

I wouldn't expect a guy with 8GB of memory to ask how to lower the size of his page file.

a page file size can be set by you in windows. but to optimize speed defrag daily and make sure you dont have any hard to find root kits or spyware running. Also CCleaner is good for freeing up space. id never recommend a reinstall of windows unless your lazy but you would usually have to do allot of work or pay someone to speed it up for you otherwise. I do onsite computer support and this a common problem i tackle often.
