I found the pictured spot mid/late august last year and was very excited because it seemed like a great subb habitat. lots of foothills made entirely of hay, horse manure, and other compost, with lush grass surrounding...not to mention quite a few datura plants. Well, I checked the spot from august-november and found not a single pan subb. I know they supposedly grow most of the year, rather than the "june-july" as listed in most guides. Ive been looking forward to being able to check the spot over again this spring-summer but I fear that the fact that I didnt find any last summer-fall might mean that there arent any that grow there. So what do you guys think? Do you find them most of the year in the hot spots, or do they typically grow for one-two seasons per habitat. I live in NJ...Im sure its too early to find any around here but i think im going to start looking anyway [image]http:// [/image]

you should try many spots dont just limit yourself to one that you think is awesome not trying to preach but at my old work there was a huge pile of stable shavings horse manure and old straw that was used as stable bedding it seemed like the perfect spot for subbs but none ever grew there. I like your avatar to by the way me and my buddy used to pick brugmansia flowers all the time and make tea out of em peace oh yeah just keep checking if thinks it good but the more spots the better the chances youll find caps.

Had no luck myself searching piles of woodchips/hay etc, plenty of mushrooms around the piles where the medium has leveled out over the ground around it. Maybe spread some of the hay/manure around the area to help the myceliem develop? GL
