Not interested in lucid dreams?

I'm really interested in lucid dreams in waking life, but when they happen in my sleep I kind of ignore them.
Either I play along with the dream instead of trying to alter it immediately, or I just kind of go blank and wake up. It's like there is nothing interesting to do, give me back my bizarre stories!
I've been thinking of things I can do beforehand so I can take advantage of these, but for some reason I can't really come up with anything which is crazy.
The only thing I really want to do is talk to myself about my personality, but I usually forget.
The other thing is to experience awesome fantasy settings (which I never get). Though, I fear they would be contrived and non-natural. Forced, you know?
It's strange I finally have this ability (maybe 2 or 3 a week) and can't really seem to implement it.
Maybe my ability isn't strong enough? How do I strengthen it? I don't really know what my problem is.

Altering dreams is not easy. Its hard to alter the setting. Even in lucid dreams i have never been able to alter the setting. But you can alter what you do within the setting. When it happens think to yourself "I'm dreaming, i can do whatever i want here and there will be no consequences" Jump into the air and throw yourself at the ground. Climb up somewhere really high and jump off.

Just be very, very sure you're dreaming before you jump

Have you tried flying to new places? Flying is one of my favorite things to do.
How about making up some dream characters and have in depth conversations on random subjects with them?
What about ingesting hallucinogenic substances?
Confronting fears?
What about your skills do you want to improve?

I'm a hardcore druggy in my dreams already.
There was one time where I tried jump flying which was cool. And levitating over snow mounds at the end of my driveway (what does this mean?!) was fun.
Speaking to dream characters is kind of hard. I talked to some hookers this morning but they were kind of dumb. They didn't even know what Chicago was and called Montana "Montaaan".
I'd like to go to new places, but the thing is I want my subconcious to project it. I feel unconfident that I can dream up some spectacular medieval castle without my concious mind warping it.
The skill thing sounds cool, but I don't know how to go about it, or what really to do.

I had a dream last night that I was snorkeling in Hawaii with this really hot tropical girl. All of a sudden killer orcas started approaching us. I told her the only way we could escape them was by going under water and swimming to the nearest island.
We get to the island and it is covered in eggs. The eggs start hatching and baby dolphins start popping out of them. I become frantic because the dolphins are just flooping around on the sand and are hot and need to be in the ocean. So me and this hot babe gather up all the dolphins in my baseball cap and throw them into the ocean.
Then we had sex.
Best dream I've had in a year.

I need more dreams like that.
The one this morning was me getting tricked into staying at my step-aunt's house. Which is weird because her and I really have no reason to hang out. So I was laying around, thinking I was sick. Then she told me she wanted to go out around town.
I get up and the house becomes waaay fancy, and get my shoes on with my step-cousins. We get out and drive around this beautiful mansion, and there are all kinds of expensive cars parked around. "What's with all this?" I ask. She responds "What?". "All the cars. Where did they come from, and why are they parked here?".
She ignores me, but then I realize that it's actually a church parking lot (there really isn't a church by her). Then I see some black clad beret wearing beatnik smoking weed by one of the cars and ponder his life. What the hell is he doing toking up in the middle of nowhere by my aunt's?
We pass some really beautiful buildings, and she promises to take me to this super expensive restaurant and maybe see a movie afterwards. But first we must go to the supermarket!
We make our way into this stripmall, where I remember something about it. Is it Chicago? No... Oh! It's from a dream I had before! I run to this chinese restaurant that I saw last time to smell it. Then I go back to see my aunt ruthlessly shopping. Some old lady opens a door to this antique-y looking room to see what all the fuss is and I walk in towards a group sitting at the table.
"Where is this? Chicago?" Oh yeah, I'm dreaming. "What's Chicago?" some seedy hooker asks. "A place." I tell her. "Like Montaaaaan?".
I get up and walk into blackness wondering what to do then wake up.
I never really get to go anywhere. Most of my dreams are spent exploring weird neighborhoods, which is pretty cool. I meet some really fucked up people, and explore some crazy houses/malls/stores/restaurants. But I really want to dream about beaches, and lush forests and all that.
I dream about Hawaii sometimes, because I was there once, but not often. And the dreams don't really focus on the natural beauty much.

Pyro,
If you listen to Don Henley at night before going to sleep, it increases your odds of having a Hawaii dream by about 50%.
