how to go about cold shocking my shiitake blocks.....
    #8273931 - 04/12/08 01:55 PM (16 years, 8 days ago)

okay, so i've been keeping my shiitake block out in my garage to cold shock it sincem onday, but just yesterday the weather got all nice, and it's getting warmer in the garage than in the main house just today... i'm gonna move it back in the house, and give it a dunk, but anybody got any reccomendations for cold shocking between flushes? i've got nowhere cold to put them besides the fridge, and that's a no no. i read a 2 week cold shock is ideal... then i was going to dunk and induce fruiting again...

Best thing to do between flushes is to Soak in cool water for 12-24 hours.

okay, not worryiong about cold shocking anymore then, the one i stuck in the garage is setting up with twice as many pins as the first flush on it.....does this seem like a good enough set up for dunking?

i just stuck my blocks in my PC vessel, then placed a grate over them with a pot on top of it to keep it down, then filled it up with cool water. Is it cool if i just leave it in my sink and try to be careful with it... i plan on pouring off some waater nd running a little more in there every few hours... sound good?

as long as your not worried about aluminum that should be ok, i normally use plasic buckets.

i think i read in one of stamets books they put a bunch of blocks in a pond and drive a car ontop of them to dunk or something along those lines
