Welcome

You definitely have to read a lot, but you've successfully found the right thread for your question and this more, than a lot of other people are capable of

Soo... A cube is a cube and they don't differ too much in potency. They all need the same grow parameters and are pretty easy to cultivate.

The shroomery has some excellent vendors, that provide sterile and viable spores.

Take a look right here and figure out what you like best.

I believe they are the same...

But only the 2nd link shows those crazy Malabar veils... which remain attached to the cap for a longer than average time. The veils are the most recognizably unique trait of the Malabar strain.

Yeah, but that's more of a distinct genetic issue.
Malabar tends to develop a veil that stays attached pretty long (though the pics from Sporeworks show the most extreme effect), but a tendency doesn't mean they can't look different.

Like any cube... results may vary.

Still, I hope vendors are doing their best to keep those cool veils around from generation to generation. Without 'em... Malabar would just be another cube.

~So I received a print of the "Blue Meanie" Cubensis and was wondering if there was any information about what its country of origin is...I know it is just a random name for a random cubensis but I thought someone might have come across this information somewhere??? :shineon: ~Pixie~

Here's what I've dug up. It is another Creeper strain... that guy's an asshole. The Blue Meanie is my least favorite name for a cube... and I wish it would just go away. It causes MUCH confusion.

Anyway... it should grow just fine. It is simply a renamed cube... but I don't yet know which one.

Here's the info... let me know how it grows.

From www.ralphstersspores.com

Caps:
Light brown as baby, becoming almost all white with age, sometimes with a orangish/brown center.
Most caps display a crackled effect with maturity. Flesh of caps readily stain blue.

NOTE: "Blue Meanie" is a widely known name for Panaeolus cyanescens. Over the years a strain of cubensis was released with the same name. This is a cubensis specimen

The Keepers Creeper...is also called the Creeper.

The KC is probably just a renamed strain that Shane(The Keeper) renamed to his liking.

He renamed all these strains to his liking...

Tequila Spikes

Veracity Sincerities

Shooting Stars

Sanctuaries

Yin/Yang?s

Oasis

Northern Lights

Hairy Buffaloes

Illusion Weavers

Chimeras

Reality Benders

Blue Meanies (Cubensis) which is complete crap...because there is another species of mushroom that is nicknamed this.
real Blue Meanies are Copelandia Cyanescens!~

Nj6

The Star Gazer

Z-Strain

all of these are made up names of other strains...for sure.
I remember when he had pictures up with the real names of the strains still in the file name of the picture jpg!~
lolzz

I emailed him and tried to trick him into telling me where the KC was from.
I told him I had a new strain of Cubensis that I'd like to trade him for a KC print...he was very interested in making the trade.
He told me that the KC was from Jamaica.

But who really knows...or cares!~

One thread for all strains, why can't a sub-forum be created for specific topics related to strains.. feels restricting...

ANYWAY....

I was wondering if anyone knew about PC blue meanies, keepers creeper and BHT... out of the 3 which one is good for the best visuals.

Thanks.

cubensis or cyanescens? [Re: RogerRabbit]
    #8270682 - 04/11/08 06:01 PM (15 years, 9 months ago)

I have watched 2 of Pauls seminars and I have the a few of his books, but i am unable to find the info i am looking for. i am curious to know if the particular strains that i have are cubensis or cyanescens.

i purchased some syringes from lilshopofspores, and i am currently "viewing" the "spores" of eq, pes amazonian, golden teacher, pf classic amazonian, treasure coast, and creeper.

i am wondering because they are all listed as cubes, although (if the pics on their site are accurate) pf classic and creeper have undulating caps as they mature.

i dont have the lute for a good microscope nor do i know which characteristics to look for.

also, if anyone has microscopy pics of different types of spores and/or mycelium which are accurately taged, i would like to see them.

thanks for any help!.

They all sound like Cubensis to me.

i have a color pdf of "psilocibin mushrooms of the world" stamets and the pics of cubes are more smooth and sorta bell like. whereas the cyanescens are flat and smooth when young and flat with wavy edges. maybe i just answered my own question. well we will see if they really look like they do in the pics.

Thats very doubtful. Most of those exotic named cubensis like Keepers creepers, Star Gazers, etc, etc.are just regular cubensis renamed with little urban legends added onto each creation to help sell better. Usually claiming to be crossed with Azure or Cyans.
