Dendropoyporus umbellatus
    #825105 - 08/18/02 07:29 AM (21 years, 7 months ago)

I found and cloned this beautiful mushroom:
Dendropolyporus umbellatus (Pers.: Fr.) Jul.
(syn. Polyporus umbellatus Fr.; syn. Grifola umbellata (Pers. ex Fr.) Donk)
http://www.grzyby.pl/gatunki/Dendropolyporus_umbellatus.htm

I was amazed how good it tastes. It?s one of the best edibles I tried.
The interesting thing is the growth parameters in GGMM should be 4-10C for primordia formation and 10-16C for fruitbody development. I found it at the beginning of august and the day temps were definitely above 20C...

Here is the mycellium after second transfer (I hope it?s not contamination!):

Has anybody grown it or at least knows if my mycellium looks right?

If it was a contam you would almost certainly have seen sporulation by now, unless the contam was a higher fungus, which doesn't seem likely.
I think....

I have 4 dishes that come from two different chunks and they all look the same.
Stamets wrote in TMC about unexperienced shroomers cultivating mycellia sterilia instead of what they wanted to clone. That's what I'm afraid of.
