No. Its pretty simple really. America already has some of the cheapest gas in the world for a non-exporting western nation. Regardless, obviously burning oil is bad for the environment (to some extent), bad for the global economy (props up foreign tinpots and fuck with foreign affairs).
The best thing would be for a more diverse energy economy. I dont want a radical rise in gas price at all. But a slow, predictable but higher than inflation increase would be the best thing so that new technologies have time to develop and economic incentive for them will grow.

Fuel prices suck. I drive a full size 4x4 truck and filling that thing up is about 80 bucks. I would almost rather take a San Pedro in the pooper with no lube than deal with that every week or two. On a side note, DuneRaver, you up by Joseph or more to the west? I been dying to do some Elk hunting up there.

no offense, but it is of my opinion that if you drive a gas guzzling truck or SUV for any purpose other than heavy-duty work, you have absolutely no place to complain about fuel prices. you dug your own grave, and i have no pity for you as you lie in it.
and if it IS for work, then you can simply write it off on your taxes as a work expense and get it back.

nope and i will tell you why.
we have more then showed that we are willing to pay 3.00- 3.50 a gallon with no problems. why would they ever lower the price. "they" know we depend on our cars.

Must be nice. We are working towards $5 per gallon here... it would be a lot cheaper if we didn't have to buy the fuel we produce from the US. (We have one of the worlds largest refineries here, but we aren't allowed to buy fuel from it. Instead, we have to ship the fuel to the US, then buy the fuel from the US and ship it back.)

I wonder how high it will have to get before people start to realize that the problem is not gas prices, it's their own propensity to consume as much of everything as they feel like.
Gas prices will rise until the western world outgrows its impulse-driven, self-pleasing lifestyle.
-------------------- Welcome evermore to gods and men is the self-helping man. For him all doors are flung wide: him all tongues greet, all honors crown, all eyes follow with desire. Our love goes out to him and embraces him, because he did not need it. ~ R.W. Emerson, "Self-Reliance"
