Composted Rainbow Mix Grow and other questions

I am new to this forum and i have a friend who has just finished his first indoor B+ grow which is the basis for his outdoor project.

After the harvest he broke up the cake and planted it under a mixture of soil which was previously used (about a year ago)by tomato plants which had used an organic fertilizer called Rainbow Mix Grow w/ mychrozziae fungi(5-5-2). Much to his surprise he checked the patch today and there is a thick white layer of mycelliumm colonizing under the soil on top of dead leaves. It smells like mushrooms even before even digging up the patch and than covering with more soil. It has been about a a week and a half since it was placed there.

I am just wondering if anybody else has experience using this product maybe as an addition to compost? Also how long should it take to see my first flush i live in a subtropical climate where it never drops below 70 in summer with lots of rain and humidity. My friend wants to try bulk with the new hawaiian strains he just recieved. Any advice?
