i cant find the calcium stuff or oyster shell (which i hear isn't any good anyway) all i can find is dolomite lime and gypsum, i dont read about gypsum much but could i use it as a ph buffer in a 60/40 or 50/50 casing?

Do not use Dolomitic lime.

If you can't find calcium carbonate use gypsum instead, but it won't be as effective.

Eggshells are about 95% calcium carbonate. Save your eggshells, let them dry, remove the skin inside, and powderize them in a coffee grinder or something.

i use this stuff, or used to when i cared about ph buffering.

calci-sand

pure calcium carbonate sand. (i always went for the white color if available, but blue/black/etc work too)

i mixed it in at about 5% ratio of casing mix.

edit: forgot to mention that this stuff is widely available at any of the pet-something type stores/etc in reptile bedding. coincidentally, usually right next to or close to coco coir.

You could use the bird bones from the pet store, or walmart. They are called cuttle bone. I used it in my casing, and it worked great.
