Does anyone know where to get some rubber gaskets for wide mouth plastic lids for quart jars?? Ive looked but all the ones Ive found dont say that they can be used with the plastic lids that I have. Any help would definately be appreciated

damn... I'm guessing you've checked walmart, ace hardware and the biggest grocery store you can find... if not, di it
if you have.... well, shit.
you can try them without the gasket, some work just fine without it

Yes sir Ive checked all those and then some which really boggles my mind considering I live in the south. Wal-mart told me that they only put canning stuff out in late spring......which should be just about now or here pretty soon

To my knowledge, there are no ( autoclave-able ) stock gaskets which readily fit plastic canning jar lids. You may tool your own with Hi-Temp RTV.
Run a tight bead inside the lid, following the lip sealing lines. You don’t want great gobs, but that’s not critical. Use some vegetable oil or 25% dish soap solution for a releasing agent, to lubricate a jar rim and threads . GENTLY screw down the prepared lid to seal all round.
Let RTV set up for a few hours and unscrew. A quick snapping twist motion may prove best. Allow to fully cure for 24 hours if possible.
This seal should last a half dozen cookings before needing replacement.

Also i dont konw if this helps because i dont know why you need the gasket. but my plastic lids dont seal the greatest so i sometimes just use a regular metal lid inside of the plastic lid. you kind of have to push it in there but once its there it doesnt come out. And that pretty much is a gasket right there. just my 2cents
