So my new computer is in the mail right now. Ended up being around $1400... I was wondering if anyone plays any games online VIA a wireless internet connection. Is it as bad as they say or is it manageable? KThx

What kind of wireless? WiFi? I assume so at least. Its do able, but if you can id still go cat5 to the router. Especially for games, idk but unless you have the new 802.11n you will see some lag.

It depends on the game too, FPS, racing, or other fast pace games i would highly reccomend cat5.

Most PC games you can manually compensate for lag, if your used to the game. Aka WoW, RTS style games ect. These are easily doable on wifi.

Im on wifi currently, but im off of online games for a bit. WoW and CS are getting boring, lol.

Im also on a EVDO card, which is basically a cellphone modem. Not as good as cable, but thousand times better than dial up or satellite.

Cat6 would be a better choice..

That depends. Cat6's only real benifit is 250 MHz, and less crosstalk/interferance.

Most cases Cat5e will suffice.

Unless he has 1000Base-T lan, then by all means use Cat6.

But not many people do, usually ALL modems and routers on the lan have to be gigabit, else it will default to 100Base-T.

Least has been my experience.
