What is real?
    #8236640 - 04/04/08 12:22 AM (15 years, 11 months ago)

This concerns the story told by Ram Dass in Be Here Now when he takes JB113, or JBsomething, anyway,
i just realized that i always assumed/thought that Ralph Metzner was never in the room in the first place, but Ram Dass doesn't actually say that. it could have been the other way around, where ralph WAS in the room. I wonder if you all thought it was the opposite. trippy either way, but my mind is blown how i just never considered, in 3 years, that it could be the other way round till just now.

does anyone know if that drug is still available or in thikal

i think i know why, its because ralph metzner NEVER EXISTED, and since its maharajji's book, he wanted me to think of it that way.

everything you can experience with your senses is real.

But we're programed to interpret those senses in that specific way. Our reality is not the universal one, fly's and other bizzare animals have probably what would look to us as very "distorted" preceptions, but who is to say their's is fake and ours is true?

Your reality, is your perception of it.

Dreams are real enough for me, to where, a lucid dream really bothers me, if I remember the next day.

It feels like I am awake, I could feel my heart beating, I could think and make decisions. Isn't that real?

Your reality, is your perception of it.

bull shit otter bullshit. So if your perceiving a wall and no one else sees it and it appears physical and you go to touch and your hand goes thru how real is that??
im not saying it doesnt have a meaning and its an actual thing but Its probably something else thats physically real and your misperceiving it reality dont like misperception and will destroy it aka destruction of false reality.

theres a reason shiva existed

IMO reality is that which can be confirmed by a third party and not just what one interprets on their own. Of course I mean this strictly in the sense of perceptional reality.

Reality as we perceive it can only ever be subjective as it is filtered through every individual perception.

There is consensus idea of reality which enables us to interract and agree of set norms.

On a quantum level things only have tendencies to exist.

Everything both exists and doesn't exist at the same time.

Buddhism & physics in agreement - who whudda thunk it?

How do you know the third party exists and isn't just a figment of your imagination?

chances are you're not going to be too worried about reality if you're seeing entities which aren't there.

Not necessarily.  I've asked characters in dreams whether or not I was dreaming, only to be told that of course I wasn't.

The thing I always like about the classical solipistic arguments is that they traditionally say that the outside world is nothing more than electrical signals in our brain. Yet how can we know, or even talk of our brain, or electrical signals if this is true? Methinks 'tis a bit inconsistent.
