So this Saturday and Sunday I get to take a course on professional tree climbing techniques! I'm not exactly sure what all we will be doing, but I know we get to use ropes and saddles and stuff like that.
I just rode my bike past the park we're going to be climbing at, and there are some 60+ foot trees there that I think we will be scaling. I've very excited!

I knew a guy in Hawaii who could climb a 30 foot coconut tree in about 20 seconds with just his hands and feet.

one time, their was this tree that was in a friend of the family's property and it was so high in the air and big that when the winds came it broke a branch off and it fell to the ground hard and could of hurt some one. well i think they tryed to get some one to do trimming and they said they wouldn't do it. so my father offered to climb the tree and cut the branches cause i was always in the yard with the other kids and they were afraid the branch's would fall and hurt one of the kids. well he claimed the tree with some belt and a long extension cord and chain saw and cut the branches. i guess it was easier claiming up then climbing down cause on his way down i thing the belt busted and he fell down. every one there was scared he was going to die as he hit the floor, on his way down his arm got caught on a branch and slowed down his speed and he continued to call to the ground, he was hurt but lived to tell the story.
the point is be careful and make sure you use pro equipment. cause it could be your life on the line.

Ya, I'm being taught by somebody with a doctorate in Forestry, who worked in the field for years. He's a goofy 'lil guy, but I trust him to know what he's doing, and I'm sure he's going to make quite certain nobody gets hurt.

Please tell me your training to be a monkey and not cutting down trees. I hate that shit.
With hemp and Soy and other shit we can make synthetic polymers that are just like wood we dont need it anymore. They even found a way to make paper out of sea weed so why?
But then again we all need a job, I aint hatin' on ya... if someone replaced my 50k-60k a year with 100+k I would do it too, but it still sucks with all the other possibilities out there and were still killing trees with barely any virgin forests left for nothing.

They all look around at each other and laugh. Then one asks me. Hey wait, isnt he dead? Well yeah he is I said. Then I drive like Junior I mumble, while I promptly slow down. "Everyday is opposite day. Everything I say is opposite of what you think I am saying. So if I say something and you think I mean one thing it is the opposite of what I am really trying to say. I actually mean another thing other than what you are thinking I am saying. Get it? Good because that's what I meant". "You may defeat me, you may even destroy me, But you will never CONQUER me"!

Neat. How much did the course cost?. Also, what does a "professional tree climber" do? other than teach others how to climb trees obviously.
I think I prefer the term "Experienced Perennial Spelunker"

prepare to sport a swiss seat...which will indeed crush your nuts if you dont tie it right. unless they have fancy smancy harnesses. hope you've got some beefy arms. i feel a lot safer with ropes than climbing poles with the strap and clawed boots, that shit is scary
