Gödel's Incompleteness Theorems
    #8226483 - 04/01/08 10:09 PM (16 years, 11 hours ago)

Are any of you educated on the subject?
Explanation of Proof

I learnt about this from those vids in the 'can math enlighten?' thread. Nice thread btw.

Anyways... I still don't think I have a clear picture of it all, but it goes something like this:
Obviously, this presents a problem in computer programming. The question is, if our brains work in a way similar to computers, then do the say limitations exist for the human mind? If so, then how do we overcome such problems? Godel thought intuition was the missing key, but that can never be objectively proved so that creates some problems for logicians. I know the theory doesn't apply to all systems, but you can't help but wonder what are the limits to logic? And most importantly, do they apply to us? I would imagine so.

How It applies to free will

This article was pretty cool. I can defiantly see where this guy is coming from. Our brains are under construction all the time.
I don't have a good understanding of the math, but the implications of it all are pretty crazy. This raises some serious questions that need some serious answering (or an attempt to at least).

I don't post here much but I  reading this forum. You guys rock! Just wanted to get that out... :awesome:

I love Gödel's Incompleteness Theorem. It's still mindblowing how there are certain theorems that can neither be proven or disproven... essentially, it's up to our own personal whim as to which one we want to "believe."
