I picked up one of his CD's up in the dollar bin (I guess it's worth noting there was a surplus of the same CD) and I just could not get into him

I think I'll give him another shot

Which album was it? They vary a lot, and his stuff that's out there, is WAY out there. Maybe pick up "Small Change" and "Real Gone". Between the two there's a pretty good cross-section of his work.

Hmm, I thought that one was damn good.

Maybe just poke around on the youtubes? His cover of The Ramone's "I Don't Wanna Grow Up" is always good for a smile.

Bump, bitches.

Deal with it.

Check out the new movie "Wristcutters: A Love Story", it's a pretty sweet movie despite the weird title, and Tom Waits plays a major character.
He does a really good job acting IMO, I didn't even know he could act but check it out.

Oh and the soundtrack is made up of artists who've killed themselves, like Nick Drake, Gram Parsons, etc...
