I'd agree with the 3 years minimum thing. I dated a girl for 2 years and WHOA. Not doing that whole marriage thing for a while.

That's the thing. I've dated only two types of girls. Controlling ones and obsessed ones who wont even yell at you or make their own wishes known. The first ones are strong and I like that, but I am NOT to be controlled. Girls that are kind of obsessive bore me, because I don't even have to try. I'm searching for this best friend or side-kick that some of you speak of. I'm only 19 though, so maybe my feelings will change in the coming years.

Yep...that is my problem with marriage right there. If you truly love someone, it just isn't necessary.
Commitment definitely has nothing to do with marriage.

Isnt the act of making the commitment really the spirit of marriage? If not it should be.

Asking my wife to marry me was the best thing I've ever done!
My wife is not only the love of my life but is also my best friend and the only person I've ever really felt any deep connection to.
We've been together a little over 13 years, married a little over 8 years, we have a one year old son and although it's been a very tiring year things are pretty awesome.
I think what works about us as a couple is that we've always encouraged each other to be whoever the hell we want to be and do whatever we want to do (within reason) - plus we continue have outstandingly great sex.:)
I consider myself very lucky that we found each other.
Being married is great in my book.

I guess I feel like the poster, I got 3 kids with teh same female and still aint married after 5 years together. I fear it will change something and I wont just be able to disappear without drama and courts, not that I would but I want to be able to I guess?
-------------------- While driving my overpowered car around tight corners like a maniac all my friends yell out. Hey man slow down, we might Wreck. I reply, Shut up, I drive like Dale Earnhardt. They all look around at each other and laugh. Then one asks me. Hey wait, isnt he dead? Well yeah he is I said. Then I drive like Junior I mumble, while I promptly slow down. "Everyday is opposite day. Everything I say is opposite of what you think I am saying. So if I say something and you think I mean one thing it is the opposite of what I am really trying to say. I actually mean another thing other than what you are thinking I am saying. Get it? Good because that's what I meant". "You may defeat me, you may even destroy me, But you will never CONQUER me"!

I know alot of guys have this notion that every girl wants to get married as soon as possible and have kids and so on, but honestly marriage scares the shit out of me and kids. . .we wont even go there! As I see it I'm only 21 and have plenty of time to spend getting to know my boyfriend better and just have fun with that. If a few years down the road we want something more then maybe but why rush into something so young when all you have is time. I feel like nothing good ever comes out of rushing into things. Its always better to give yourself time to know what you really want and make sure you really want it. and to validate my point. . .
. . . just thought I'd throw that in there
