Level of Sound a factor.
    #818170 - 08/15/02 01:20 PM (21 years, 7 months ago)

My friend is considering setting up a bubbler/humidifier to introduce humi fresh air into his terrarium. Only problem is he is working under an elevated bed so size is an issue when dealing with a humidifier and the whole set up has to be so quiet that no even his girlfriend would be able to hear anything when she spends the night.

My buddy would really appreciate any advice on how to make things stealthy.

Put a LOOOOOONNNGGG hose on the air pump and run it to somwhere remote.
With a fine bubbler it'll be quiet on the output end.

I guess it depends on the quality/potency of the aquarium pump.

wow i don't think your bubbler is going to be a problem with your girlfriend overhearing your mushrooms talking or whatever!

if she is hearing them telling her to do things like kill you for murdering their older sister mushrooms, then one of you needs to seek psychiatric care, he he. i don't know if it would be her, you or the mushrooms who keep talking at night that would be the one who would need to see the shrink

try turning out the lights in your setup a few hours before you go to bed, give the mushrooms a chance to settle in for the night! usually mine shutt-up after about a half hour. sometimes on weekends or shortly after a harvest, they do tend to stay up late tho.

i also explain to the mourning mushrooms that the fact that i am cultivating mushrooms guarantees that they will have posterity, and therfore i should be able to demand their sacrifice in order to assure generations in the future. they seem to get my logic and get on with growing up to be big mushrooms.
