 Crack cocaine users collapsing [PORT HARDY]

Several crack cocaine users have collapsed in the last two weeks and RCMP are warning crack cocaine users of the "extreme risk to health."
Cst. Ed Nugent of the Port Hardy RCMP says about half a dozen people have collapsed in the Port Hardy area. In each instance, the crack cocaine was purchased locally.
"There could have been more that I am not aware of. The ones I know about have all been in the Port Hardy area," said Nugent. "All the ones we know of have required medical attention."
Nugent would not comment on whether there had been any fatalities associated with the recent collapses.
Nugent says symptoms are similar to a drug overdose and victims have reported "not feeling like they have before" when they used the drug.
"People are strongly urged to not use the illicit drug, to seek immediate medical attention if they have used crack cocaine recently and to assist police with its removal from the community," said Nugent.
Nugent adds that crack cocaine use is a big problem here.
"I think it's fair to say there's a disconcerting amount of crack usage on the North Island," said Nugent.

Crack is some nasty shit. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of it gets tampered with, since it's such a 'street' drug.
