Stephen King's the Mist
    #8211563 - 03/29/08 06:35 PM (16 years, 2 days ago)

definitely worth renting if you are a fan of monster/horror movies

this shit is like that one intense spider scene from cloverfield except times 1000

acting is average but shit, that movie was cool as hell

Downloading it right now, strangely enough.

83.9% and counting.

This work connection is slow as fuck.

It's definitely the most accurate adaptation of a Stephen King work.

Thanks for the encouragement, I acquired this flick recently but haven't watched it yet - now I've got some motivation!
I think I'll wait 'til my sweetie's around though, because I always get a kick out of seeing her startled!

It was a good movie. . . except for the fact that they made the ending up! In the tradition of Stephan King movies, they took a little liberty by adding in extras. In the actual story it doesn't exactly end it kind of just leaves it to the imagination which I understand they can't seem to do in Hollywood without coming out with a second movie. Either way I was severely disappointed with the ending they made up, because it was complete BS. The rest of the movie was fucking awesome. . . . " I've got plenty more peas where that came from" hahaha I died at that part!

I liked Red Rose did anyone see that? It was a TV special.

On a whole though Stephen King movies suck, but some of his books rock. Mostly his short stories.

I've only read one book of his I didn't like and it was something he didn't want to publish, but his agent and publisher pressured him into it.

Stay away from the book Blaze. It's an Of Mice and Men'ish tale that he wrote a long, long time ago, but was just put on shelves within the last year.

That was a tv mini-series, so you can expect a lower quality production. I haven't seen it, but the book was amazing.

I'll get back to it sometime soon.

Yeah, that was a good one too.

My favorite are all the Dark Tower books. If they were written by anyone other than Stephen King, they'd be taken very seriously as a modern masterpiece of fiction.

I love them, The first one is kinda shallow because it was written when he was so young, but they get so amazingly in-depth as they progress. I'm a King homer, but it wouldn't matter to me who wrote those books. I've never been so emerged in fiction in my life.

My Mom is a huge Stephen King fan, so I've read most of his stuff.

I really like:

Insomnia
Rose Madder
The Tommyknockers
From a Buick 8

Can't think of any more that I really enjoyed at the moment, but those are all top-notch books.

But the title story to that collection *is* way out there.

I remember watching IT when it was originally on tv in a couple of parts.

I was just a little kid and was scared shitless for like, 3 years because of that movie.

minor spoilers...

i saw it recently and thought it was certainly one of the best horror movies i've seen in a looong time. so i went out and bought the book and just finished it. pretty ,uch the same except for the cheesy wrap it up hollywood ending they created. at least the movie ending was somewhat tragic though...

i really love stephen king books. he's an amazing writer as far as i'm concerned. i'm currently halfway through book IV of the dark tower series, which is so far an epic story (i just took a little break for the mist since it's so short)..though i've heard the ending ain't the greatest. that's one thing about king that is pretty typical. his endings are usually pretty lame. like in "It"..giant spider? wtf....LAME! i've only seen the movie version of It though so maybe it's better in the book. i felt pretty much the same about the ending of The Stand as well though and i did read that one. that's a great book, until the end. stephen king's books are a study in the building and building to same epic climax that then never happens. i forgive him though because his books are so awesome as a whole. i liked the mist's book ending though. it was direct, creepy, tragic, and not without a glimmer of hope.
