please help with identification
    #820390 - 08/16/02 10:18 AM (21 years, 7 months ago)

I just got back from hutning and I came across some mushrooms. I believe these are psilocybin cubensis, but I wanted to post a picture to get some feedback from some of you. It is somewhat old looking though, but I think that this may be mycellium growing on it. Is this possible? Anyway, here are the pictures. Any feedback is appreciated.

Thanks

To verify the species you should get a spore print and let us know the color. You didn't say where you found them, but presumably they were growing out of horse or cow dung. The "mycelium" you see growing is probably a mold. Too many molds are poisonous or carcinogenic for me to ever recommend eating any. I don't see any blue bruising in the photos, so I wouldn't get my hopes for Psilocybe cubensis up too far if I were you.

Happy mushrooming!

I'd have to agree with ToxicMan on this one, not cubensis, the stems are too thin, and there is no veil, also no briusing. Take that spore print and see what happens, but keep in mind that these are most likly not cubensis.
