I'm going to pick up one of these practices to "further my spiritual growth" , can anyone tell me a preference or what some of the main differences are between the two?
I'm not Jesus, so I can't do both Qigong and Yoga.

I really don't know what Qigong is, but I practice yoga. Yoga, in the Western mind, is thought to be a bunch of different poses, and while that is a part of yoga, it is only a part of a greater whole. There are many different branches of yoga. Hatha yoga, Bhakti yoga, Raja yoga, Jnana yoga, Karma yoga, and Tantra yoga

Start with BE HERE NOW, by Ram Dass. He outlines Yoga and gets to the core of what it's all about. I do the basic Hatha Yoga poses which he describes in the book, and though I have never had a teacher to help me perfect the poses, I find them to be powerful. If you find a wise teacher so much the better!

My body I will give to pleasures, to diversions that I’ve dreamed of, to the most daring erotic desires, to the lustful impulses of my blood, without any fear at all, for whenever I will— and I will have the will, strengthened as I’ll be with contemplation and study— at the crucial moments I’ll recover my spirit as was before: ascetic.”

The two are similar and complementary IMHO. Qigong from that post is more like a standing meditation with muscle isolation, its very interesting how it works i deffinatly suggest trying it! As for yoga (hatha) its more about developing balance. this site http://www.yogajournal.com/poses/finder/browse_categories shows the basic poses and such and can serve as a reference. but really you should buy a book (light on yoga, visyana yoga, or ashtanga yoga) and develop your own daily routine. that when yoga becomes very beneficial.

I love qigong, the biggest problem I have found is that there are tons of douche bag "masters" out there just trying to make money. aka this nonsense. Finding a good yoga instructor is just as difficult. We have a place were I live called Big Ron's Yoga College....the name should be enough to keep anyone away, but one by one dumb college students just line up and throw there money away.

Don't know about Qi Gong, but Yoga is great if you are interested in bringing your senses into harmony and having more unified relationship between breathing as a physical act and having your mind be more felxible and resilient.

Why not do both Qi Gong and Yoga? Qi Gong is very relaxing and only takes about 45 minutes..

I agree with the others; do both. I kind of look at it like hard science vs. soft science....hard meditation vs. soft meditation - yoga vs. qigong or taijiquan.
I practice out of "Light On Yoga" and it's great, but tough. He has a schedule outlined in the back so you know what poses to do when. After about the fourth week he starts pranayama.
Otherwise the satyananda school is very good and more spiritual focused. I also own "Asana Pranayama Mudra Bandha," by that school, where they explains how to work through the asanas, which mantras to use during, etc.
