1. It sounds very good. 2. We should have done it long ago. 3. We can't do it soon enough. 4. Did you not catch the, shall we say, political leanings of that web site? *cough* left *cough* far left *cough*

i browsed quickly and noticed its a communist paper.
...i wouldn't take too much stock in that as they obviously have a political agenda that is to try and sway people against america.
i doubt you'll see an attack before nov. although turkey is massing troops on its borders right now.
that article is almost a month old....
....if you want info....the DoD will leak it to the american media.
it is well known that the DoD sends propaganda and false 'news' items to outside papers....especially the UK

No shit.... really?
People with far left political views are merely communist wanabes. Well many of then anyway.
Besides, my post was mostly intended to tweak their delicate minds a little bit.

All the right wing folks on the board post links to right leaning papers that will undoubtably be biased towards america. It's the same thing.
Both sides just blindly hate each other, and it's equally retarded.

I don't hate left wingers. I merely see them as seriously misguided.

The difference between left and right is not a case of one side being better than the other, and I think almost everyone gets too caught up in the dogma of their political views to realize this.
It's a case of philosophy. A left winger, when asked, will probably tell you that they want to see peace, fairness, and an equal chance for every person. A right winger might say they want justice and prosperity.

I know what communism is. It is a utopian political and economic scheme which treats the individual as a resource to be exploited by the collective. It has never worked in the real world except in the most primitive agrarian societies. Even then it is highly inefficient because it ignores a basic reality of human nature. That being, people will tend to expend the least effort needed to obtain things, if there are no greater rewards for expending greater effort, the effort will not be expended. This means that individuals will tend to work or risk as little as possible because they will not realize increased benefits for increased efforts or risk.

I was asking Kneegrow, who doesn't seem to know the difference between communism and socialism.
Communism is naive, but the intention is to have a happy society where everyone lives in harmony because they are all equal and there are no real leaders, it treats every individual as an important part of the system, it is by no means intended to be exploitative. Anyone can tell you it doesn't work.
Socialism is completely different. There are many prosperous and advanced socialist countries right now, and lots of them could easily be considered a whole lot more "free" than the US. The Netherlands for instance, or other scandinavian countries. They're all at least equals with the US economically, and they definately have higher standards of living than the US.

No it isn't, communism is a variety of socialism.
There are many prosperous and advanced socialist countries right now, and lots of them could easily be considered a whole lot more "free" than the US. The Netherlands for instance, or other scandinavian countries.
It depends on what you mean by "free." The U.S. has more economic freedom than most countries (but this is quickly changing). Try going to a bar in Sweden at 11 PM. Not so free in that respect. Compare their tax rates with that of the U.S. The Netherlands has more social freedom than the U.S., with a noted exception of freedom of the press (you cannot legally by a copy of Mein Kampf). I should also mention the right to keep and bear arms.
They're all at least equals with the US economically, and they definately have higher standards of living than the US.
Most are not equal with the U.S. economically (The Netherlands is about equal). The U.S. ranks about 7 in economic freedom in the world. As one who has frequent visitors from The Netherlands to the U.S., I can state unequivocally that their standard of living is still lower. Almost everything is more expensive, with the possible exception of beer. Houses are smaller and less well equipped, many people still don't have clothes dryers, cars are smaller, it takes longer to get necessary surgery (medicine is more socialized than here).

Standard of living = being able to afford food, health care, education, and other things. The UN releases a list of the countries with the highest standard of living every year. Canada, Denmark, and the Netherlands are usually some of the top countries, while the US is usually around 10 or 5.

http://www.undp.org/hdr2001/back.pdf Things are a bit different this year, actually, which is interesting. The US is number 6.
The top five are Norway, Australia, Canada, Sweden, and Belgium, in that order.

Well, if the U.N. states it, it must be true! Just remember, the U.N. is a gaggle of socialist statists, who are envious of the accomplishments of free people everywhere and believe it is government's inherent right to live off the fruits of their subjects labor. Their stated goals include global taxation and world government. They dispense propoganda just like any other statist organization.
Sorry, I've been there (Europe), I've shopped there, my wife was born and raised there, her friends and family frequently visit from there. When they come here, their jaws drop at the wealth and low prices (of most things).
