Cloning Pan. cyanescens
    #818977 - 08/15/02 10:24 PM (21 years, 9 months ago)

When cloning species where the mushroom flesh is thin and thus it?s difficult to obtain a clean tissure, it?s allways a good idea to cut out several pieces of tissure. They can even be placed at the same dish.

As you can see, out of 5 pieces placed at the dish, only 2 show healthy growth, the other 3 are contaminated with bacteria.
I will transfer the 2 healthy spots to each 1 dish tomorow.

Very nice.
The dishes have to big to make it work. I usually use small dishes and have to make 10 or more to get few without contamination.
Do panaeolus grow on peroxidated media?

As you can see it?s not really needed for this....

It?s good if you have contaminated rare spores though....

Never.
What I do is I cut a 1 inch piece off a polyetyilene kitchen wrap foil and use this.

It?s the same stuff as http://www.glad.com/plasticwrap_faq.html .

Ive found antibiotics are selective in what bacteria they are able to prevent - better of just using a few petris and quickly transfering to peroxdated agar - works well for me...
