Growing in an outdoor cave??
    #818919 - 08/15/02 11:17 PM (14 years, 8 months ago)

Any of you tried to grow in a cave? Where I live theres access to lots and lots of caves and I figure the temp and humidity would be just right. What are the possibilities of this, and if it's possible how could one go about doing it? Could one use a bottom layer of Perilite to make sure the air is moist, if your not there everyday to mist? I'd appreciate any feedback or ideas any of you have.

Where I'm from, the temps inside a cave would be in the 50's year round. That would be too cold for most things. Also, what about lighting and other factors?

You could probably grow P. azurescens in caves with artificial light.
And off course button mushrooms.

But no P. cubensis.

For azures yes.

Button mushrooms(Agaricus bisporus, Agaricuus brunescens and Agaricus bitorquis) don?t need light.

I'll look up those buttom mushrooms, sounds interesting. Can you trip off of them?

If you could everyone would be ordering mushroom pizzas from papa gino's and domino's and this board (or this forum) would be useless/non-existant.
