Hey all,
my friend started up some growing, mycelium is almost done growing.... I noticed one problem, the jars he put them in are tapered....at the top! We arent very experienced so is there any way to birth it, without casing????????? Thank you

you can do whatever to get them out and then try to piece them back together into cake form.. they might grow back

but why bother? why not just case it.. it's way better in almost every way.

cut the cake up in the jar and get it out and case it.

next time, use the right jars.

Indeed, you can wrap the jars in a thick piece of cloth and break them, but that's the only way to keep them as cakes, that's why its so important to carefully read the teks.
You could always scoop them out into an aluminum baking tray with a sterile spoon in a sanitized room or glove box and then case it...but you said no casings so...

yes. casing is really easy.

go to walmart (assuming you have one in your area)

look for jiffy mix, perfect mix, or miracle grow moisture control

get it saturated with water, microwave it in three intervals of 2 minutes apiece.

then let it cool and use it on top of your cased substrate.

this is an extremely ghetto/janky way to do it, but it works.

you can also case with straight verm, if you already have some on hand, but i wouldn't recommend it.
