I need a nice legal hobby, brewing sounds right up my alley. Here’s the problem, Beer is a recently acquired taste of mine. I don’t drink very often at all but I have developed a taste for beer, especially Budweiser. With that said, I don’t know a goddamn thing about beer, but im eager to learn.
How much initial investment am I looking at to make a home brew? Is it smelly? Because the only place for me to put the carboys in my tv room.
I already have an 11.5L Carboy, and a brewery store near by. Where should I start? What would be a good ale, something that would suit my tastes? I already have an 11.5L Carboy, is that too small? What else would I need?
Are there any ultra newb teks out there? How long is the total process from start to drunk?

How much initial investment am I looking at to make a home brew? less then 100.
Is it smelly? Not really. There is some smell. Try to find a cool out of the light place.
No, 3gal should be fine or try to find a 1gal. It just can be very heavy To pick up.
What else would I need? A big pot Spoon a funnel **Good water** How long is the total process from start to drunk? 3-4 weeks

I'd suggest expanding your tastes to include craft offerings to see if you even like real beer first, before you go investing money.
(especially since Bud is a lager, and you'll most likely start out with an Ale)

What do you suggest to give me an idea of what homebrew would taste like? Sam Addams Boston Lager?
Quick question.
Do Hops serve any purpose other than making the beer taste bitter? When they say the Beer would be sweet without it what do they mean? Like sugary sweet? Or some king of shitty tasting sweet? Just out of curiosity.

that’s where the question came from. He said the first set of hops is for taste and the second for aroma. But earlier he said its purpose is to make the beer bitter, and to cover the sweet malt. But what does sweet mean exactly? Like what would a beer taste like with no hops?
Like shit?

Hops are used to keep the beer, to add taste and aroma..They are also a member of the cannabis family..
It taste very sweet... Try a Trappest/ Abby(ie. GRIMBERGEN Blonde ale). They use vary little hops and is sweet.

Boston Lager is good, but there are lots of other things that would be better. Red Hook/Stone Brewing/Rogue etc...
