Has anyone had a chance to read "Psilocybin Mushroom Handbook- Easy Indoor and Outdoor Cultivation"? I was looking at it in a bookstore the other day and it looked like it had some really good info in it but I just wanted to check and see if anybody has read it and if you have, are any the methods worth a damn??

Yeah, I thumbed through it at Borders the other day. I almost bought it, but in the end I didn't. It had a lot of good information in it, but there is much more here. With this place though, you have to do a lot of weeding to get to what you're looking for. The methods in there, from what I read were very similar to what you'll find here.
If you are just starting out, buy it. If you already do grains, skip it.

fo sho dawg, it takes a lot of work to find all the info you want here, but the best info is on the shroomery. Especially considering that every climate is different and sometimes you need to improvise, the best place you can get that type of diversity in styles and updated info for free is here. It takes a lot of reading, but it's worth it.

If you're using grains make sure you have a PC, the silver fish in my bookcase says that it's not needed for PF style cakes (in his opinion,) but grains are a completely different story.

Hey that book was the first thing I bought when thinking about growing mushrooms. It's a very good read. If all you want though is to grow mushrooms than this site is all you'll need. The book does offer an improved pf tek method and covers a lot of great info that is probably on this site for free. I am new to this site and haven't searched it much all of my known info came from that book. He also covers more in depth topics about mushrooms like: biology of musrooms, psilocybe: the species, and chemistry of mushrooms. This book goes into things you really don't need to know to just grow mushrooms but it is things that will enable you to understand mushrooms further. For instance, one thing I learned, mushrooms are neither a plant or animal. Though the main thing that resembles them to plants are being stationary in the ground mushrooms are more animal that plant. Isn't that some wild shit? See plants make their own food from light, co2, and water while mushrooms actually eat things.
I'll be the odd ball here and say it was well worth the $15 it costs.

I have the book purchased as well. It's a great read and covers many aspects of the growing process and different methods. I would definitely recommend it. I still grab it off the shelf every once and awhile to look something back up. It has a great index of information and calculations in the back.. A+ read.
Get it. I enjoy it & still use it to this day.

its a waste of money. it doesnt give u near enough info.....unless your trying to figure out whether your into it or not. its misleading in someways and doesnt explain anything about grain to substrate as its goal is to be an easy basic guide. get the mushroom cultivator

That is true but if you had read the book you would understand or atleast remember, if you did read it, why it doesn't cover that.
The authors explain why they don't give bulk growing methods. They feel that the methods they supply in the book are enough to keep you, your friends and family mushroom filled for years. They suggest in the book if you really want to 'bulk' up to look into medicinal mushroom growing. They do not wish for people to get in trouble.. & I completely agree in that fact when writing a book of such content. The best way to stay out of trouble is just to stay out of the 'biz' all together.

Ordered this book today.
This site is a phantastic resource but it's like reading a newspaper online - it ain't the same as holding the real thing. I downloaded Gordan Wasson's book "Mushrooms Russia and History" months ago and still haven't got beyond page one.
