IMO other ethnos have various purposes and connections to different distinct realms, many having very similar connections. One of these shared connections would be the interwebbed communication to Gaia consciousness, if for no other reason that ANYTHING that connects you to higher energies will by default make you aware and more connected to Gaia consciousness because we are so enveloped in it as humans.

I might be inclined to say that mushrooms though have a stronger connected and earthly grounding effect to them because of these infusion with the planet via mycelium and the symbiosis mushroom mycelium has with every plant on the planet.

IMO Ayahausca has a very earthly feel to it but can QUICKLY get way more astral then shrooms can, but not say that both can't take you to very similar places with proper dose + intent.
