injecting water into colonizing jar?

is this ok to do? i got a few jars that are colonizing right now but i think they might be a bit dry. so can i inject a few cc's or so in the middle of the cake with sterile water? i know that it would be running a risk for contamination but it has to be done

um... how slow are they colonizing ? how much over how long? give some more info we may be able to help ya, dont mess with them yet.
