for now she will be used to keep my air CLEANER (not sterile).
so lets check her out... found a used KOOLTRONIC fan:

scrapped together a fitting box. yes, i know i am not a carpenter. i had to fix it a bit because it wasnt squared right to the filter.

slide the fan in the box, like so

as you can see in the last photos; there is a lip on the apposing side to the fan. that is where the filter slides in(from the bottom).

all i need to do is seal it up using the silicone i use for inoc ports and shes good to go.
im also going to tap on some trim to hold the filters in place so i dont have to silicone them in (12"x20").
i hope to be able to buy a nice HEPA filter to fit my box in the future to use this as a flow hood.
for fun here is a pic of the way i close up my still air box while the sanitizers settle or while in the middle of something i want to take a break from. just pull off my gloves and do as so. grab a new pair, pull out the old, inflated ones and im good to go.

neat
you should use particle board or melamine. That wood looks dirty. You should have sanded it first also. I hate to burst your bubble but if that thing actually seems to clean then its most likely just a placebo effect. You might think its doing a great job but it will just be you trying harder.

Apply some min-wax to that puppy., its cheap and it goes a long way- then you could avoid sanding like T said, bur even with a working flow hood- small particles of wood that have mold spores in the core will be bouncing around in there.
With a couple coats, water will bead up and it will give you a surface thats easy to wipe down, and you wont have to trip on all those spores sitting, waiting, in the cracks, or actually componded inside the woods matter itself.
You could pull that off with a 5$ tub- or line the insides with platsic.

thanks for the advice. im definitely going to paint and seal her up. i have a problem with buying stuff. if i have material lying around i think, "what could i transform this into?".. i used to tape up plastic bags for a still(er) air environ, until i dumpstered a perfect frame and found $2 vinyl. all has been smooth. ive been getting some pretty mad shitakes and im about to start oysters and some stropharia garden giants.
