Straw/Poo monotub

I have a 27qt monotub, Ecuador MSS>2 mycobags>~2-3 inches of straw/poo. Not sure the exact ratio as I pretty much just winged it. I did this on Thursday, March 6 so it's only been 4 days.
It seems to be coming along pretty well(clear mono), but it does not seem to be coming through the top. I remember reading that when using straw it helps to put some weight on top during colonization?
Should I add some weight on top of the tin foil(put on after spawning) or just leave it alone?

depends on the ratio of straw:poo. If you used more straw than poo then I would say to go ahead and add a little weight.

Any other opinions on this? I really don't want to act on one opinion alone.

I'm disappointed . I usually get good responses from the community and I get one good response. I know to cover the sides of the clear tub, but I figured it doesn't matter right now since it's only colonizing and I wanted to watch it come along. Does TMC say anything about putting weight on top of the sub during colonization?

Alot will argue about this but from personnel experience working with MS inoculated rye jars, compressing straw/hmanure to a 3-4inch depth and using a 1-2 ratio.
It's always worked well for me... Not quite sure about your situation but no, no need to put weight on it now,
When working with straw sometimes the mycelium takes abit of time to climb up the peices at the surface because of FAE, the center always colonizing faster on a bulk substrate because of the pent up Co2 and heat generated by the substrate itself, It normally takes 8 days at room temp for it to fully colonize.
1-2 ratio is a good ratio to work with
