Texas cubes :D *updated with PICTURES*
    #8154124 - 03/16/08 04:58 PM (16 years, 1 month ago)

I found what will be a few grams dry on the field today.. They were pretty dried on the field. Its supposed to rain today and tomorrow and maybe the next day.

We were riding around the field on what is like a 4 wheeler but with a small back and it seats two on a bench up front... Like a suped up  golf cart. And in MID day its the bomb.

Ill get pictures soon :laugh::D:D:D:D

Shroomery image hosting makes it look poor quality and that saddens me :frown: i might upload better quality ones when i get home... Its supposed to rain today tomorrow and the next day so i might hae some fresh ones too
I hope this field produces copes also.

Ill finish uploading pictures when my camera battery charges...

I even found a cube about 50 feet away from the house

Nice finds. Thanks for sharing and good luck for the next hunt. Sounds like the weather is cooperating.
I always wanted some type of elevation (like a flats boat with a poling platform) for the middle of a grassy pasture. Talk about "eagle eyes". You could have some sort of golf cart vehicle with an elevated cage and call out "3 cubes at 2o'clock:mushroom2:.
Yeah, that's the flats fisherman in me talking.

Good rain day, ya'll.

I'm in Austin, and though I'm a seasoned gatherer/grower from the Northeast, I don't know any good places to go foraging around here. Cpt Mushman and Slash, you have any good spots around Austin? Anybody else?

Thanks tons.

Whoa, Amberdragon, that pic is phenomenal. Is that an outdoor patch of cubes? Cultivated or "natural"? And, geez, where? Big Thicket?...I've never been there.

I'm in Austin, hunting for hunting places, but it's been pretty dry here...until today (grin).

Yes, it's kick ass, is'nt it.  It's natures best, all on her own!  We stumbled upon them in an area that was a dump site before and was completely finished with a new landscape, which is awesome in itself.  Look up big thicket. It's in Saratoga, about 3 hours from where I am and that;s where I am off to this weekend. They have biodiversity projects there with volunteers attempting to identify unidentified mushrooms. The one group found 55 species within 1 1/2 hours. They say if you want to step through the looking glass, thats where to go!

that looks suspiciously like someones outdoor patch, maybe hidden in Big Thicket..but look at how uniform the size and shape of the shroom patch is.

Big Thicket being in South East Texas, I doubt those Azures were growing there, but I could be wrong. I don't think any other Psilocybe species grow here except for cubes.

No, I didnt find this in Big Thicket, I'm going to Big Thicket tonite to backpack until Monday evening and was asking if anyone knew how it was going there fruiting wise.  I'm aware of the rain and warmth there, so I thought well, considering there are already people there for the Biodiversity study with enormous focus on fungus.  I apologize if the picture threw anyone off, but these were found on a base.  I should've started a new paragraph instead of mixing everything together in my excitement. Apologies!

It is too early to hunt in the Big Thicket. Wait about 1 to 1 1/2 months more, then you will have luck, but wait, you will not find any actives in th The Big Thicket, it is a forest. You need to look in cow pasture around the Big Thicket. (That is my territory)!! LOL

There are actives there, nushroom!  There are there are both traditional Hallucinogenic fungi and Gyms growing in that area.  The big Thicket is several hundred thousand acres long and I promise you, there is plenty there!  I'll pull up some of the mushroom walk links/bioversity links and post them here asap!  Also, cow pastures, eh?  Your territory?  May I....just a little...invade your territory? Please?

I am sorry that I am just now responding. I am not greedy! I will share my territory with you and anyone. I say it is mine, but truly not. It is just for the taking. Just be careful. If you can find gyms in the Big Thicket, Good Luck! I am only sharing from my experiences. My best to you and your adventures!
