Heated Cabinet for Pasteurization and Incubation?

So I was looking through incubation forums, but never really came across a prefabricated pasteurizer or incubator.... or one that had dual function... I was looking around on Ebay and found some heated cabinets used for storing and heating dishes or food... Most that I looked at had temp ranges from 70 - 200F give or take 15 degrees. Granted they are expensive and fairly large... but wouldnt one of these heated cabinets be bitching for pasteurization ( 170/180 or so) and then incubation (75-80 or so)... And then move the product to the room temp humidified GH to fruit... Wouldnt one of these work, if one had such funds to purchase it??

Would work. As long as it was able to hold the tempatures required for pasteurizing.
I used a restaurant style steam table or "food warmer" for pastz. It only runs temps of 115f to 175f so it wouldnt be good for incubating.
That's a good deal on the hobart though.

You can't beat a stovetop for pasteurization, and colnonization of jars should be done at room temp. Don't 'incubate'. RR

Hey thanks for the tip RR... I just found your argument for room temp incubation on one of these forums... makes sense to me. I'll be sure to do that with my WBS jars I'll be inoculating this weekend.

my incubator not only improves MY growth speed for colonizing rye, it maintains high-humidity so my jars wont dry out (my innoc. holes are pretty big).
I know the consensus is that those who incubate are flat-out wrong and irresponsible horrible mushroom growers, but making it seem like incubation is a sin is not right because there are several people here who use incubators that would agree it works for them.
the word 'don't' is pretty powerful RR, I wish you will consider how discouraging it is.

I couldn't agree more. I tried the stovetop method tonight using quart jars, I find its much easier than using bags and easier to record temps. I would like to know an easier method for doing 50lbs of poo than doing 4 burners and 4 pots of quart jars...
I have to agree on incubating, Ive found that jars colonize hastey at 80F. However, colonizing bulk substrates I find room temp plays a better role in preventing contams.

If your looking for something to pasturize bulk material try this if your a do-it-yourself type of person. I personally don't have one but the idea sounds/looks awesome idea.

I'm just waiting on cash to build one. Beats watching the stove for a couple of hours. You could also turn it into an incubator with a heat bomb heater (2 liter bottle + fish tank heater). Dual function for both at $150ish.

^^^ I uploaded the picture for you...since the picture on Ebay will probably be deleted soon.
If Agar was around, he would like that Hobart!~
Nothing wrong with thinking outside the box... that's how alot of great ideas have been born around here!~

Pipe dream...maybe
But I wish I had that Hobart when I had 8 incubators going at the same time, several years ago.
It would have made things alot easier on me.
But that Hobart isn't practical for your average Joe.
