Help My Cakes Dried Out!
    #8147327 - 03/14/08 07:58 PM (16 years, 1 month ago)

I think I solved my little "no pins" problem with my cambo's I decided to just break one to see if the indise was still moist. and their dry, even the one that just came out of the incubator. i think i had the moisture content right when making the substrate originally Verm 6 c Flour 3 cups water 3 cups (per six 1/2 pint) I think that the fact that they were incubated at room temp for like 4 weeks then 1 to 2 weeks in an incubator might have done it? anyways i am dunking them, are they still good, or did i just lose a month? please tell me i didnt fuck up!

A month? Not unless your fruiting conditions are off. Dunk them, roll them and wait. You aren't the first person to have a dried out cake.

Yes. Look at the way Fahster stores clone tissue- dry on popcorn until he rehydrates it and uses it again.

For fuck's sake, how would I know? :smirk: Your jars colonized, so I would say the moisture was at acceptable levels. Without my crystal ball, I couldn't say why your cakes dried out. Through trial and error you will learn what works and what doesn't. Take notes of what you do each time to help you find out what works best.
